“In the Word” Matthew Journal

Reformation Heritage Books recently released the Gospel set of “In The Word” Bible Journals. These were developed by Rob Wynalda, Dr. Joel Beeke, and Paul Smalley.

The purpose of these journals is to provide a space for an individual to write out the Word of God, dedicate time to meditation upon the passages that they are reading and copying, and then reflect through study questions, note-taking, and devotional questions.

On Reformation Heritage’s website is a quote from Joel Beeke that provides great insight into the intent of these journals.

“The In the Word Bible Journal encapsulates the biblical mandate to write Scripture on the tables of our hearts. By writing out Scripture ourselves and buttressing that with answering questions and taking notes about the texts, we will grow immensely in hiding the Word in our hearts and exemplifying it in our lives. This series of books is suitable for children and adults, for lay people and ministers, for Bible study classes and private devotions. Try a volume yourself. By the Spirit’s grace, your soul will prosper, and you will want to write out the whole of Scripture.”

I recently received the Matthew journal and am eager to begin copying this Gospel, pondering the words penned under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and studying it from a perspective aided by rich devotional questions.
